Freakout 2026 Update
To our community of artists, donors, festival attendees, partners, venues, volunteers, and collaborators: thank you for continuing to support Freakout. We are deeply grateful for the community you’ve built with us, and we want to share where we’re headed next.
Together with our Board, we’ve made the decision to evolve how Freakout shows up. Instead of continuing the festival in its traditional format, we are shifting toward year-round programming and a more sustainable model for the organization. Independent music festivals have become increasingly difficult to produce, with rising costs, shifting attendance, and growing barriers for touring artists, especially international ones.
This past year also gave us space to reflect on how we operate and where we need to grow, particularly around communication, expectations, and creating safe, respectful environments at our events. That work is ongoing, and it will shape everything we build moving forward.
Our goal remains the same: to create spaces where people feel safe and connected, support artists fairly, and bring voices from around the world into meaningful dialogue with our local community. In 2026, Freakout will produce a series of Freakout Presents shows throughout the year at some of our favorite Seattle venues. With support from funding like 4Culture’s Free Public Access Grant, these shows will remain accessible, with tickets at $10 or less, and free whenever possible. Our currently announced events include:
Mexico City's Valgur at The Vera Project on May 28th FREE EVENT
French Legends The Liminanas with Native Sun at Neumos on November 7th* Includes $10/tickets while supplies last
Many more shows TBA very soon!
Through this new chapter, we’ll stay active, deepen our partnerships, and continue creating opportunities for discovery, connection, and emerging artists, especially those coming from international scenes.
We are also thrilled to announce our new partnership with La Bestia Radio from Mexico City, who will serve as Freakout’s new marketing and media arm, helping us produce content, amplify artists, and keep the Freakout universe thriving beyond the stage.
New and exciting things are coming, but the heart of Freakout remains the same: a fiercely independent, community-driven space for underground music, cultural exchange, and artists who find each other..
